The Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce hosted the 9th Annual Youth to Career Fair on October 10, 2007 at Reed Arena. Over 2500 students participated from surrounding area schools to plan their futures. The purpose of the event is to expose area students to all aspects of business. Students are encouraged to investigate career pathways unknown to them and expand their horizons so they may plan their high school schedules in an educated manner. The career pathways represented were: Arts & Communication, Business & Marketing, Construction, Manufacturing & Transportation, Environment, Natural Resources & Agricultural Science, Health & Medical, Science, Engineering & Technology, Social, Personal & Public Services, Hospitality and Tourism and Military Science.

The 2007 Brazos Bluebonnet Biannual Quilt Show is a judged show featuring over 150 beautiful, handmade quilts. The show includes a vendor mall, a donation quilt, quilt appraisals by appointment, and many quilted items offered for sale in the Bluebonnet Store and live and silent auctions.

Junction 505 held their annual Harvest Moon banquet and fundraiser at Briarcrest Country Club on Thursday, October 18, 2007.  Donors enjoyed a delicious dinner while being waited on by some of the community's most recognizable members like Sheriff Chris Kirk, Brazos County Judge Randy Sims and Mayors Pro-Tem Ron Gay and Jason Bienski. News 3 servers included Brenda Sims, Bob French and Carmon Izzo. Anchor Crystal Galny served as emcee and auctioneer.The organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adults with disabilities by providing them with the opportunity to join the mainstream in employment.  This year’s goal was to raise enough money to buy a van to transport individuals to their jobs

More than 1,400 athletes of all ages competed in aquatics, bocce, golf & softball in College Station at the state wide Texas Fall Classic. Special Olympics Texas is a privately funded non-profit organization, providing year round sports training and athletic competition for 25,841 children and adults with intellectual disabilities through out Texas. Friday, October 19, 2007 the Brazos Valley Chef Association cooked a steak and mushroom dinner for attendees at the Texas Mushroom Festival in Madisonville, Texas. The following day a wide range of events took place ranging from a 5K run/walk, art exhibits, a mushroom growing demonstation, and a chef's showdown.

People gathered on Saturday at Reasearch Park at Texas A&M for the American Heart Association's annual Heartwalk, an event that raises money to help fight heart disease. The top sponsors of the event, St. Joseph's Hospital, Central Texas Heart, and the Cardiovascular Surgery of Brazos Valley, were celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the St. Joseph's Heart Center. There were also many exhibits, medical professionals, and opportunities to learn about fitness and nutrition.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham held their Annual Polish Heritage Festival on Sunday, October 28 at their Parish Activity Center.  The festivities began at 11:00 a.m. and went until 5:00 p.m. and included great Polish food, games and music as well as a live auction.

Word from the North Pole was that all good boys and girls from around the area, along with their parents, came to Post Oak Mall on Friday, November 9, 2007.  Santa arrived via a Mall-wide parade at 6pm and then hosted a party with his friends near his castle in front of JCPenney. Mall and North Pole officials confirmed that Santa Claus will be available to hear children’s wishes Monday – Saturday from 10 am - 1 pm; 2 pm - 5 pm; 6 pm - 9 pm; and Sundays, Noon - 2 pm and 2:30 pm - 5 pm until December 24th at 6 pm when he begins his Christmas trek around the world. There is no charge to visit Santa and have him hear your holiday wish list. However, visitors can purchase a photo with Santa. Prices vary for photo packages. In addition, Paws and Claus Pet Photos are every Wednesday night from 6-9pm. Furry, friendly pets only please!

It was a night of intrigue and dancing at this year's Junior League Charity Ball. The Hilton Hotel hosted the League's James Bond-themed ball Saturday night, November 17, 2007. Saturday's event is one of two of the Junior League's major fund-raisers for the year. The group provides volunteers and funding for local non-profit organizations.
